Ah, May, the “just the tip” of summer. Chapter Three of the Statue is up on patreon along with a needlessly wordy subtitle. Also added a one-off story, “Prime, Lab Grown, Milk-fed Beef” that takes mystery meat to the extreme.

Prime, Lab Grown, Milk-fed Beef

While at a farmer's expo, Nico and Lydia meet a former scientist, Dale, who offers them a box of synthetic meat samples. Dale promises that one taste is enough to get them hooked. Nico and Lydia quickly learn that Dale's promise is all too true. They gorge their way through the samples and need more, but Dale has vanished and concentrating gets more difficult by the minute. Another bite would be enough to solve everything, if they can find it.

Eddie and Julia have a tenuous relationship as coworkers. Julia seems to loathe everyone, and Eddie has long given up trying to befriend her. The only thing that might change their relationship would be an ancient civilization traveling through the stars and dumping hormonal cocktails on various planets.
